Professional Nutcrackers

This Christmas season, the boys have both taken quite an interest in nutcrackers. (I wonder if they would like the ballet?) It’s pretty obvious why; they’re little soldiers and usually carry some sort of a weapon, and some of them actually do crack nuts! So last weekend, our town had a Parade of Lights, where all the business and high schools, etc. make floats out of Christmas lights and parade down Main street for all to ooh and aah over. We had the good fortune of having a friend with an upstairs office that overlooks Main street, so we could be warm and watch at the same time. It was a really good time.
But I must get to my point…my point? Oh yeah… as we were looking down on the parade, a local chapter of Marines went marching by, and Beau exclaimed, “Look! Those are REAL nutcrackers!” Nutcrackers, indeed. 😉

  1. I remember when they were in Oklahoma they were fascinated with the nutcrakers. At the time, there was one that was almost as tall as they were. But certainly, the Marines are probably the BIGGEST Nutcrackers they’ve ever seen! That must have been “awesome” marching sight to them. 🙂

  2. Uh, as a matter of safety, I would advise not going up to a Marine and telling him, “You’re a real nutcracker!” He might just damage your jingle bells.
