Embarrassing Moments

A while ago, a blogger friend asked that dreaded yet fun question, “What is your most embarrassing moment?” I really had to think about my answer. Largely, because I just don’t embarrass that easily. (Hopefully I haven’t just jinxed myself…ha ha!) And, I also tend to block out bad memories…
Anyways, I’m pretty sure months have gone by since I’ve come up with the answer to that question. But I think I may have something… From time to time, Kev and I ask each other to tell each other something we don’t know about each other. (It’s fun and sometimes really hard to come up with something!) Well last week, I told Kev about a particular blonde moment I had. (Yes, that is the REAL color of my hair.)
One of my high school jobs was working at this little deli in our small town gas station. One morning, I was opening the deli, which meant I was in charge of cooking up things like tarts, donuts and muffins. These concoctions arrived to us frozen, so we’d set them out to thaw the night before on a big plastic tray. So, I got to work at some ungodly hour in the morning and began putting the thawed pastries in the oven to bake away. Let me just say here that I’m not at all a morning person, and I don’t operate on all cylinders in the morning either. What did I do? I put the plastic tray in the oven. Yes, I did. And it melted. And sent yummy smelling chemical fumes into the air. I had to call my boss and tell her what I did, and she had to come down and help me clean up my mess. I felt so stupid. Oh yes, I did. Fortunately, she was very nice about it and didn’t even fire me!
And that…is quite possibly one of my most embarrassing moments. Definitely more embarrassing than the time I accidently squeezed out a fart while sitting on the bleachers in middle school.

  2. Oh my gosh. I was terrible at food service too. I totally spaced out on orders all the time, and that wasn’t even in the morning. I forgot about that until you posted this.

  3. That is so funny! I probably would have tried to clean up the whole mess without anyone knowing. I had this ‘thing’ about being perfect when I was a kid.
Now I take photos and document the mess ups on the ‘net for the whole world to see.

  4. How funny.
I have some good stories from my food-service days, too. It kind of makes me wonder why when I drive through some place, I never stop to think whether the people there did something terrible to the food line today.
