The Dailies

Just an account of the daily grind here at my house. For poster(ior)ity. ;)

Well, today was going pretty good. After a somewhat hellish week with my (almost) whole family getting strep and going on antibiotics, I was starting to feel better again. Even ambitious and you know like actually doing something. Took the boys to the mall park and met up with Kev. Had great plans to come home and bake some bread, do some laundry, and make some yummy chicken fajitas. I was really looking forward to those. But then I get home…have to change Beau’s poopy pull-up and in the middle of changing him realize that I’m getting a blind spot in my vision. Yeah. The first warning sign a migraine is on it’s way. Fortunately, I have a game plan when it comes to migraines that works fairly well. Take two Advil right away and drink a cup of coffee and then lots and lots of water. If the headache comes on, lay down in the dark. Most of the time, I just end up not being able to see anything but flashy lights out of one eye for about 20 minutes and then have a fragile head and feel like I was hit by a trailer truck for the rest of the day. Fortunately today was one of those days. The problem I have with migraines is that they just plain piss me off. They always seem to show up when I have these great plans and ambitions for the day (even if it’s late in the day) and screw everything up. Grrr. And after this week, that was really the LAST thing I needed. So there. It’s off my chest now. I still made a loaf of bread, thank you very much. And I’m doing just fine now. Next week better be dern good is all I have to say!

Kevin comes home tomorrow, YAY!!  I’m so ready to get back to normal.  Today was quite the day. It started out with me waking up to the boys fighting with each other…I just love that… (insert eye roll here.)  Then Selah, who didn’t really sleep well last night, came down with a fever, was soaking all her shirts from drooling so much and had kind of runny, diarrhea poops.  Needless to say, she was super fussy and wouldn’t calm down for anyone but me.  Yes, I was a human pacifier today, which doesn’t make anything easy!  Somehow, though, I managed to highlight my mom’s hair, fold a minimal amount of clothes, and then we actually made it out of the house to get some groceries and eat dinner.  That was nice!  Selah actually obliged by staying asleep in her carrier almost the entire time.  Mom and I split a really good veggie dish at Johnny Carino’s.  It was a nice cap to a rough day.  We both felt like we deserved it, and the boys were happy too.  Oh yeah…and I also managed to cut Drew’s hair!  Okay, okay, I concede…I’m Superwoman.  (in my dreams anyways…hee hee.)  My mom was definitely a big help and decided to stay with me one more night to ease up the burden a bit.  Thanks mom!  I love you!  You rock!  Well…it’s off to bed with me now.  Hopefully Selah sleeps a little more soundly tonight and whatever it is she’s fighting gets obliterated by all the healthy sleep!  Yep.

Sigh. What a day. Stayed with my parents for the past four days because Kev is working a big video production in the Springs. Came back home today to go to a meeting for a school that we’d possibly like Drew to go to. They choose students by a lottery, and you had to be at the meeting to even be considered, so there I went. Kev doesn’t get back till Thurs, so he couldn’t go with me. Anyway, apparently I clenched my jaw through the entire thing because I had one heck of a headache when I got back home. My mom is down here with me now to help out with the kids a bit, partly so I could go to that meeting without having to drag them with me. We’ll see if Drew gets in or not by the end of April. We’re also on a waiting list for another school of choice here in town. I’d really like him to get into that one. I really like how they run their school will add on a grade every year, so they’ll eventually be a K-12 school. So yeah…that’s that. I’m glad to be back home. It’s nice to have the comfort of familiarity for a bit. I’m enjoying that I feel that way right now because I know soon I’ll feel like I need to get out again.

Aaah. Today was overall a good day. I cleaned both of our bathrooms, and washed some clothes. They aren’t folded…but I can do that tomorrow right? Took the kids to the mall and was able to get us all some new shoes and a few other things. Came home and we had portabello mushroom burgers for dinner. We had my brother-in-law over and we all watched “The Darjeeling Limited” . What a weird movie. It was kind of endearing in an odd way, I think I liked it. Who knows, we’ll see how I feel about it tomorrow.

The boys fought a lot today. I don’t feel like I handled it very well, but I’m learning too. Some days I just wish I was perfect. But then life would be pretty boring, wouldn’t it?

Tomorrow my MIL is watching the boys and Kev is coming with me to do a raku firing. Should be fun. I hope my pieces turn out.

Today was a low key day. Didn’t really do a whole lot. Did go outside and enjoy the sun, jumped on the tramp with the munchkins a little bit. Drew had more energy today, though still pale with dark circles under his eyes. Talked to my mom. She is still sick. She had the flu, and it turned into bronchitis. Just what she needs. *NOT*

Oh yeah, Selah finally figured out how to get to a sitting up position from crawling. She isn’t crawling on all fours yet, but does the army crawl and rolls around to get places. So I guess that technically she IS crawling. She’s been doing better sleeping the last two nights. (Knock on wood!) She is still in the bed with us though…oh well. I’d rather sleep than not at this point, and if it means she has to be in the bed with us, then so be it.

Made pizza for dinner tonight…thinking about going out to Fruita to hang with Ariel tomorrow. We shall see.

Drew isn’t feeling well today. Not many symptoms, just no appetite and sleepy. hmmm. He just laid around all day. Eventually he said his eyes hurt, and asked for some carrots, “so my eyes can see better.” He did eat dinner.

Hung out with Beau on the trampoline while Selah slept. It was nice to spend some time with just him. I think we both needed that.

Went to pottery. Glazed raku pots. Hung out with my MIL there. It was fun.

Also talked to my Gramma today. We had a funny little conversation about “balls”…yeah, those kind. I just thought it was really funny that I was laughing with my 86 year old grandma about “balls.” Ha ha.

So…had a good weekend. Saturday…what happened Saturday? OH. Friiiday, some friends of ours came over to hang out and eat the yummy chicken fajitas with us. It was fun, except, Selah wouldn’t go to sleep. Finally, at 11 pm, I decided that it was TIME. So I just laid down with her, and what do you know? I fell asleep too. Whoops. I felt bad, but I think they understand. I hope.

Then Saturday…I invited my MIL to go shopping downtown with me. I had a gift certificate to Pollux and they were having a sale. I found a cute puffy black jacket finally! I’ve been looking for one for ages now. And it was only $18. Yay! I guess it pays to just wait it out for the perfect whatever it is you want. Then went to the Vineyard with the boys and MIL. Again, ended up in the nursing mothers room. I’m glad that Drew and Beau are getting something out of it. Then we hung out with MIL and BIL after I successfully put Selah to bed, (GAH!) and that was a lot of fun.

Sunday it was lunch with Kev’s grandparents, as is our usual Sunday routine. Then home, and I watched the Grammy’s, and ended up with a headache. Then Kev watched Rendition while I fell asleep. (I do that a lot.) Selah tossed and turned all night long
Monday, I scrambled to get the laundry done, pay bills, balance check book, make bread, feed everybody. Then it was over to Ariel’s to watch Zoe while she went and took care of some work stuff. Then she watched the boys and Selah for me while I went grocery shopping. That was nice! Then I came home and made burritos for dinner. Kev recorded some Autumn’s Chase stuff and I folded clothes and watched TV. Got Selah to sleep by nursing her, and when I put her in the crib, she promptly woke up. She was wide awake. We were super tired. I ended up rocking her to sleep which worked again, until I laid her down in her crib. Finally I just had to lay down with her and get her to nurse so she would sleep. She tossed and turned all night long, again…this is getting old.

Tuesday it was a glorious sunny day. We spent a lot of time outside. The boys jumped on the tramp and I just basked in the sunlight and held Selah. I think I ended up with a sunburn, because later I noticed my cheeks were really hot- I thought I was coming down with a fever… Went to Target and the grocery store with the kids, came home and made raviolini with a salad. Selah actually went to sleep for me this night. Yay! I finally got some rest. That was so nice.

February 22nd, 2008

Wanted to get a lot done in the house today, but the kids were bouncing off the wall, and under my skin…so I took a mental health day and went to the mall. That was counterproductive. Oh well. I was supposed to meet Ariel there, and did, but Zoe was a mess and tired, and so we didn’t get to really hang out. Let the kid run around and scream at the playplace. They were having a blast and didn’t want to leave, but Selah was starting to really fuss and wouldn’t eat and there were just a lot of people there, so we left and came home. So now I’m getting dinner ready and doing laundry at the same time. We may or may not have some friends or family over for dinner, and may or may not watch a movie. Last night, the BLT’s didn’t work, because in addition to not having lettuce, the turkey bacon had an expiration date of 1/18/08…nice, eh? Tonight it’s chicken fajitas and pinto beans for dinner. YUM!

February 21st, 2008

Selah’s 7 month birthday. Did lots of laundry today. Searched and searched and searched for a new theme for my site. Found one I like, and have no idea how to plug it in. Cannot get rid of the Captivating links by myself…so annoying.

Kids were fairly well behaved today. Drew still being ultra dramatic though. I told him he had to take off his spidey suit and he wailed in his room like a baby for who knows how long. Beau just doing all his normal stuff. Getting into things without asking and so on. Selah having a rough time with her teeth. Kind of fussy and difficult today, but currently sleeping.

I dyed my hair again yesterday. Not at all the result that I wanted. My hair looks like a turtle brownie, except not that yummy. Kevin made me promise I wont change it. He thinks it looks good. I don’t, obviously. I wonder if he’s worried my hair will fall out if I do anything else to it? I was joking around about buzzing it all off…ha ha.

Supposed to go to pottery tonight…not feeling up to much at the moment.

Making turkey BLT’s for dinner tonight with sweet potato fries…should be interesting, seeing I have no lettuce. Whoops!
